Answers to some of our Frequently Asked Questions
The pitch is your opportunity to succinctly convey your business idea and its value to judges, within a 3 minute time window.
In the first instance you need only to complete your online application form responses. The applications are then evaluated, with the top applicants being selected to go on and pitch at the Semi-finals. If successful in the Semi-finals, then you will be invited to pitch at the Finals.
Registration of Interest forms are available until 5pm AEST 11 October 2018.
If you are deemed eligible, you will then be sent a full online Application Form with further details about the competition.
You have until 5pm AEST 12 October 2018 to complete the full online Application Form.
There are assessment questions in the application and these will be evaluated. The highest scoring candidates will then be selected to progress and pitch their idea to a panel of 3 judges at the Semi-finals.
Absolutely. Your idea will be assessed for its business potential, value and viability.
If selected to pitch at the Semi-finals (or onward) you will be provided with a pitch guide in advance which gives a suggested framework and assessment criteria. You will also be provided with an online pitch training video to help frame your ideas and focus your thinking.
Applications close 5pm AEST Friday 12 October 2018.
Semi-finals will be held at the Chinchilla RSL on Tuesday 13 October 2018.
Finals will be held at the Chinchilla Cultural Centre on Thursday 29 November 2018.
If you are selected to participate in the Semi-final you need to be available to pitch from 9am onwards on Tuesday 13 November 2018 at the Chinchilla RSL.
If you are selected to participate in the Final you need to be available from 9am onwards on Thursday 29 November 2018 at the Chinchilla Cultural Centre.
This includes your attendance at the evening Awards event.
Optional training will be available to candidates during the course of the Competition. Details to be confirmed.
If you are selected to participate in the Competition, Semi-final and/or the Final Event (each an Event), you must meet all your costs of attending the Event and pitching your idea.
The judges are impartial and recognised specialists.
The finalists will deliver their pitches to the audience and the winners of each category will be announced.
The night will be a wonderful celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Western Downs and everyone is welcome.

NB. Finalists will be allocated 2 priority tickets as part of their qualification. Additional tickets can be requested using the link above.
